Back to action as FKF Premier League resumes

The Football Kenya Federation FKF Premier League is set to resume this weekend with eight epic matches lined up following the international break which punctuated the league just after the first match of the season.

All but two teams in the top tier will have their work cut out as Kenya’s two representatives in continental football Kenya Police FC and Gor Mahia playing their CAF Confederations cup and CAF Champions league matches in Nairobi respectively.

Three matches are on the cards, Saturday, 14th September 2024, in Nairobi and Machakos. In Nairobi’s Dandora Stadium, a crunchy double header is lined up as Nairobi City Stars host Bidco United at 1:00 PM before Kariobangi Sharks welcome 12-time champions Tusker FC in a 4:00 pm kick off. Both matches will be televised line on TV-Azam.

City Stars will open their season on Saturday at Dandora Stadium against Bidco United after they missed matchday one action as they were scheduled to play Police FC who were engaged in the continental assignments.

Tusker, who are joint in third with Muranga Seals after their 1-0 win over Sofapaka on the league opening day will be hoping to extend their winning streak facing a stubborn Kariobangi Sharks who, after starting off the league with a barren draw against KCB, will be looking to collect maximum points, buoyed by a home advantage at the stadium in their home turf of Embakasi North.

Elsewhere in Machakos, 2009 champions Sofapaka will be up against FC Talanta at the Kenyatta Stadium ina a match scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm.

League leaders AFC Leopards will host Posta Rangers FC Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday with their spirits high following a 4-0 rout over Mathare United in the first match.  AFC Leopards will be looking to bag another huge win over Posta Rangers to extend their lead at the summit of the table.

In other matches scheduled for Sunday, 15th September 2024, Kakamega Homeboyz will welcome newly promoted Mathare United at Mumias Sports Complex as Bandari FC welcome, for the first time, newbies Mara Sugar to Mombasa Spots Club. Murang’a Seal will have a date with KCB FC at their Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a county in a 3:00 pm kick off.
