Ex-Premier League Stars to Recruit Kenyan Players for WSH Cup and Football Showcase in South Africa

Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) players will recruit Kenyan youth players to feature in an international football showcase and to play in an African soccer tournament in South Africa.

The coaches who have transitioned from being players before retiring from the playing field to join the technical bench will conduct technical development program into sharpening their skills and then recruit the most talented for the football showcase and WSH Elite which both will take place in South Africa.

The WSH Elite Academy director Evans Chief said the training will be conducted at Hope Centre and Marist University scheduled to take place on the two weekends of November 22-23 and November 29-30, 2025 in Nairobi.

The WSH Elite Cup an African continental showpiece to be staged at Camp Discovery in Pretoria on December 4-14, 2025 in South Africa together with football showcase which will be conducted by coaches from Europe to train and recruit players for European clubs.

The available age group categories for the program are under 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 with limited slots on offer.

The coaches to run the technical training camp and recruitment are Evans Chief who played for the 2005 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup champions Nairobi City Stars (then World Hope FC) who once earned a call up in the national under 20 team, and two times Kenyan premier league winner as Tusker FC player Jackson Macharia before retiring after playing for champions Kenya Police to join coaching.

The others Humphrey Mieno a midfielder capped 16 times by the Kenya’s national football Harambee Stars previously played for A.F.C. Leopards and Gor Mahia as well as Tunisian side Club Africain and Kenya’s ex-international Osborne Monday who featured for the 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka and two times Council of East and Central Africa Football Confederation (CECAFA) champions Tanzanian side Azam FC.

“At the technical training camp, We aim to train then evaluate and identify top-level players, who will then be invited to showcase their abilities in front of a pool of professional European coaches as others join our academy age group teams for Africa WSH Elite Cup in South Africa. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and in an effort to attract potential players and ensure a high-quality event, “ said Chief.
