By Kiarie Mwangi

Walking football is a variant of
traditional football aimed at
improving wellness, both physical,
mental and socially, of persons aged
50 years and above.
Walking football can be played both
indoors and outdoors and involves
both gender.
Kenya Walking Football Federation
was formally registered by Sports
Registrar in August 2024 and soon
thereafter got affiliated to the global
governing body –FIWFA.
Kenya is the most recent African
Nation to join growing list of countries
within the continent seeking to
promote social networking and
physical health to their elderly
citizenry appreciating that sports.

Kenya Walking Football Federation cuts across religion, gender and even social status! Other affiliated African countries include Rwanda, Nigeria,South Africa, Morocco and Egypt.
