Carlifonia Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Hashim Kamau was on Saturday elected as the new President of the Kenya Amputee Football Federation during elections held at Nyayo Stadium.
The exercise ushered in a new leadership team to guide the federation in its next phase of development.
Bernard Ongondo was elected 1st Vice President, while Richard Ombeba secured the position of 2nd Vice President.
Stanley Mukoyani retained his position as Secretary General, with Rose Chesang and Dismus Kuyiyi also retaining their roles as Treasurer and Organising Secretary respectively.
Hashim has been pushing motions that support the management and upgrading of public sports facilities within Nairobi. His involvement in Amputee Football will deepen his commitment to the sport.
In this role, he seeks to focus on securing proper management, securing finances, and elevating the competitiveness of the national teams.
Hashim Kamau is a two-time MCA for California ward and a former professional football player who has for a long time been a supporter of grassroots football. He is also an urdent supporter of Premier League side Nairobi United.
Leveraging his deep roots in the sport, Hashim has championed major community development projects, including the upgrading of the California Desert Sports Grounds while supporting football activities across Nairobi.
Hashim is a seasoned former footballer and a product of the historic, dusty playgrounds of California Estate in Nairobi. Having played the game at a professional level, he has consistently used his platform in the Nairobi City County Assembly to advocate for youth empowerment and sports infrastructure.
As an MCA, Hashim has been a driving force behind local development. During his tenure, Hashim has spearheaded the development of sports infrastructure.
He was at the forefront at facilitating the upgrading of grassroots pitches, including the California Desert Sports Grounds and the Kinyago Football Field.
He has been collaborating with the county government and corporate partners on initiatives ranging from borehole drilling to local market development and youth engagement.
