Comeback kings Githurai All Stars seal back to back Sakaja Super Cup title

Githurai All Stars (GAS) staged a dramatic comeback to win their second back to back Sakaja Super Cup title after 2-1 victory over Kawasaki Sports Club in the 2024 grand finale staged at Dandora Stadium.
GAS secured a come back from a goal down after Kennedy Ndegwa had gifted Kawasaki an early own goal in the 17th minute, a goal that stood into the half time break and put Kawasaki on the path to victory.
However, Kennedy Odhiambo would bring the champions back on track as he squeezed in on a goal mouth melee to bring GAS to level in the 53rd minute.
With 15 minutes left to play, Kawasaki were reduced to 10 me as the referee drew a red card leading to a corner which Hassan Masudi tapped into the net, with the goalkeeper already beaten. The packed stadium broke into wild celebration when the final whistle was blown crowning Githurai All Stars repeat champions.
The back-to-back Sakaja Super Cup champions bagged a whooping Ksh. 3 Million in prize money as Kawasaki FC took home a cool Ksh 2 million.
Third place play-off winners South C Rangers walked home KES 1 million richer.
In the ladies category, Shrink Pack Starlets emerged winners beating South C Queens who has eligibility hitches on some of their players.
 In a match that was a mere formality, South C Queens took the lead courtesy of Gloria Muhongo in the 14th minute. Muhongo of South C Queens squeezed in  a low shot to beat Shrink Pack goalkeeper Melvin Inyanje.
Viola Oluvula equalised for Shrink Pack Starlets in the 35th minute and when the final whistle blew, there was no need for penalties as Shrink Pack had already  wen crowned champions.
 In individual categories, Benjamin Musyoka of Victors Faith took the golden boot after sinking in 14 goals, Shauri Moyo United’s Jermaine Khamati was elected the most promising player as Githurai All Stars custodian Ishmael ‘Noddy’ Khamati took the golden glove as the best goalkeeper. Kawasaki captain Albert Sande was named the tournaments most valuable player.
