Kenya Judo stands at the brink of making history at the international stage following a stellar perfomance by the Kenya Judo National League Champion Reagan Mwandi who qualified for the bronze medal contest at the ongoing Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Reagan Mwandi, the National champion in the men’s -60kg category and Kenya Police judoka, booked his place to compete for the bronze medal placing Kenya at the verge of history in the martial arts, courtesy of the robust training regimen that has been cultivated by the Kenya Judo Federation and the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK).
Reagan demonstrated the resilience, discipline and fighting spirit that define Kenyan judo on the international stage, setting a date with destiny with the weight of the entire nation’s martial arts medal prospects on his shoulders.
Kenya has never won a medal in Judo at the Commonwealth, nor at the Olympic Games.
The President of NOCK Shadrack Maluki, who is also the President of the Kenya Judo Federation and Chairman of Africa Judo Union said that the Kenya Police Judoka representing Kenya in Glasgow as part of Team Kenya has once again demonstrated the resilience, discipline and fighting spirit that define Kenyan judo on the international stage.
“As Reagan steps onto the tatami for the bronze medal bout, we wish him the very best. The entire nation is behind you. Go make Kenya proud,” Maluki offered.
Kenyan Judokas are seeking to break the glass ceiling by winning the country’s first medal at the Commonwealth Games during this year’s competition in Glasgow.
