Fostering Cooperation: NOCK President Maluki hosts talks with Gambia Olympic President Bai Jallow

Nairobi-2nd September,2026: The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) President Shadrack Maluki today hosted the President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), Bai Dodou Jallow to a meeting aimed at fostering cooperation in the development of sports between the two countries, in a meeting held at the NOC-K Headquarters in Nairobi .

Maluki, who was flanked by the NOC-K 2nd Vice President Nahashon Randiek and members of the NOCK Executive Committee, took time to discuss with Bai Jallow, the various ways through which Kenua and Gambia can collaborate in enhancing athlete development as preparations for the 2028 LA Olympic games intensify.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between National Olympic Committees of Kenya and the Gambia by enhancing athlete development pathways, advancing high-performance programmes and deepening continental solidarity through sport.

The discussions also explored opportunities for stronger sporting relations and partnerships that will contribute to the growth of athletes and the Olympic Movement across Africa.

According to Maluki, sports continue to unite nations, build lasting partnerships and create opportunities for future generations and such cooperations are key to helping athletes achieve their full potential.

“Our engagement (with Bai Jallow) provided an important opportunity to reflect on the strength and potential of sporting cooperation across Africa. We exchanged views on strengthening collaboration between our National Olympic Committees, advancing athlete development and high-performance sport, and building stronger pathways for our athletes to excel on the continental and global stage,” President Maluki said.

The NOCK President also intimated that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of deepening sporting relations between Kenya and The Gambia and reaffirmed a shared commitment to a united and stronger African Olympic Movement.

“As leaders in sport, we have a responsibility to build partnerships that transcend borders, share knowledge and resources, and place the athlete at the heart of our collective efforts. Together, we can advance African sport and create a stronger future for our athletes and the Olympic Movement,” Maluki asserted.

Kenya has continued to rise steadily under the leadership of Maluki who, since taking over the leadership of NOCK in 2025, has focussed on fostering relationships with other Olympic committees to mutually benefit athletes from both Kenya and the partners.
