The National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) High Performance Training Centre, being established in Nyandarua County is set to provide young athletes with an environment to turn their sports potential into world class performance.
NOCK President Shadrack Maluki says that with Kenya being endowed with a wide pool of young athletes who have the ability to compete at the highest level, the youth often lack proper facilities to explore their full potential and the establishment of the center, built in Engineer,in Kinangop, Nyandarua will change the narrative.
“For years, we have spoken about the talent we have in Kenya. We have very many young athletes with the ability to compete at the highest level, but who often need the right environment to turn potential into performance. That is the thinking behind the High Performance Training Centre,” President Maluki says.

According to Maluki, the High Performance Training Centre will be a place where athletes can train, study, eat, rest, recover and develop within one ecosystem.
The center is designed to be a place where quality facilities, technical coaching, sports science, nutrition, medical support and athlete welfare come together to support the complete development of an athlete.
While emphasising the need to develop facilities to support Kenya’s immense talent, Maluki notes that the vision is bigger than merely building a facility; It is about building a pathway.
“We want to create an environment where emerging talent can be identified, nurtured, monitored and given the opportunity to grow into world-class athletes across different sporting disciplines,” Maluki noted.
Maluki added that while Kenya has the talent, it must now build the systems that allow that talent to thrive and the High Performance Training Centre is the future of athlete development.
“Kenya has never lacked talent. What we have needed is the right environment to nurture it, develop it and help it reach its full potential. The vision of a High Performance Centre has always been rooted in that belief: that our athletes deserve more than talent alone. They deserve the facilities, expertise, science, recovery and support systems to grow into world-class competitors,” Maluki added.
The High Performance Training Centre which began just as a vision has been planned to be a place where the next generation of Team Kenya athletes can train, develop and dream bigger.
