Mbuthia confident to clinch NOCK treasurer post

The chairman of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) beach volleyball commission Moses Mbuthia has exuded confidence at emerging victorious ahead of the upcoming National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) elections set to be conducted on April 24, 2024.

Mbuthia, who is gunning for the NOC-K treasurer position at the polls next week told Sports Monthly that as an independent candidate, who is not aligned to any of the two competing teams, he is banking on his performance as the beach volleyball commission chairman and has conducted his campaigns with confidence of clinching victory.

The Kenya Volleyball Federation deputy treasurer exuded confidence in becoming the next NOCK treasurer when the elections are held noting that his vast experience in the sports industry gives him an edge over competitors.

Mbuthia called on delegates from sports federations to vote wisely indicating that he had taken a choice not to make alliances for the unity of sports and the Olympic movement development in the country.

“I am offering myself for election as the NOC-K treasurer. I am confident of getting victory and I have chosen to let my track record speak for itself. As the chairman of the beach volleyball commission, I am proud that Kenya has advanced winning a silver medal at the last commonwealth games and the game is now on an upward trajectory,” Mbuthia said.

“Our teams have made to it to the Olympics, commonwealth games and the world championship in Italy and the game has now started making inroads into other regions like Kapsabet and Ndaragwa as well as Nairobi and we are on a steady rise. This is the kind of development I seek to bring to Nock and I am sure that we shall achieve,” Mbuthia added.

In his latest development, the National Homologated Beach Volleyball Tournament has began at the picturesque Tiwi Beach Resort, Diani Kwale County in yet another move aimed at further developing beach volleyball in Kenya.

This FIVB-sanctioned event promises high-level competition and is a critical opportunity for teams to earn national ranking points under official beach volleyball regulations.

The NOC-K elections will be high stakes as two camps face off. Mbuthia will be facing off w the treasurer office elections with Kenya Fencing Federation president Fred Chege and Kenya Shooting Sports Federation president Shoaib Vayani in their bid to replace outgo

ing Anthony Kariuki.
